Sonnet

From out the foam she rose before my gaze.
A perfect form as ever man might see or ere to know the limit of his days might hope that somewhere in the world could be.

As dark as teak her hair lay past her variegated eyes of green and brown.
Her skin as pale as moonlight on the sea did bear my sight more fit than any of her kin

Unbiddable was She to my commands or pleas that fell unheeded on the shore.
As slipped she quick from out my weakened hands to swim among the dashing waves once more.

I hear her laughter still within that scene as sleep becomes more peaceful and serene.
